Summer Sessions Loan

Summer 2025 Schedule

• Session A: six weeks, May 27 to July 3

• Session B: ten weeks, June 9 to August 15

• Session C: eight weeks, June 23 to August 15

• Session D: six weeks, July 7 to August 15

• Session E: three weeks, July 28 to August 15

• Session F: three weeks, July 7 to July 25

• Session 12W: twelve weeks, May 27 to August 15

Summer Census: Courses that are added and/or dropped up until and including July 19, 2025, will impact aid eligibility. If you are receiving Summer financial aid, contact Cal Student Central for advising before making adjustments to your Summer 2025 schedule. Please review information provided at Berkeley Summer Sessions, Berkeley Summer Abroad, Education Abroad Program, and Summer Aid.

• Students enrolled in six units or more in Berkeley Summer Sessions or six units or more in a combination of Berkeley Summer Sessions, Berkeley Summer Abroad, or Education Abroad Program.

• Students are Middle Class Scholarship (MCS) recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year.

• Students may qualify up to 4,000 in the Summer Sessions loan based on the Summer Cost of Attendance. Please review eligibility for Summer Aid.

• Please complete the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Summer 2025 by June 1, 2025.

• The Summer Sessions loan will be offered in your Summer financial aid package based on eligibility.

• If you wish to borrow the loan, you may begin by accepting the loan under My Finances in CalCentral.

• Beginning in May, the financial aid and scholarships office will inform ECSI of your interest in borrowing the Summer Sessions loan.

• ECSI will email you a link to complete the loan requirements (loan entrance counseling and a promissory note). Please use your legal name, SSN, date of birth, and address to complete the promissory note.

• Please complete Summer Sessions loan requirements by the following processing deadlines.

• After the student completes Summer Sessions Loan requirements, in approximately 5 days, the financial aid and scholarships office will receive confirmation of the completion of loan requirements.

• Once the financial aid and scholarships office receives confirmation from ECSI, the CalCentral task will be completed, and your loan will be disbursed.

• Student billing will notify you if your loan disbursement exceeds your outstanding charges and if you are eligible for a refund. If you would like any potential refund to be deposited directly into your bank account, please sign up for Direct Deposit.

• Interest accrual and repayment of the Summer Sessions loan begins nine months after you graduate, are on a leave of absence, or drop below half-time.

• Please complete loan Exit Counseling if you graduate, are on a leave of absence, or drop below half-time.

• ECSI will send you information regarding repayment of the Summer Sessions loan at the end of the grace period. The grace period is nine months after you graduate, are on a leave of absence, or drop below half-time.

• Please keep your contact information up to date with ECSI and UC Berkeley.
