Congratulations on your admission to the University of California, Berkeley!
Many students have the opportunity to participate in Newly Admitted Student Pathway or dual degree programs like the Sciences Po or the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Programs. It’s important to have the financial aid information necessary before choosing your program.
The information below will assist you and your family in understanding how participating in these programs could impact your financial aid for the academic year.
Note: These are general responses and may not apply to all students and/or in all cases.
A: U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens may apply for and receive financial aid through the Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships office while enrolled in the Hong Kong University and Sciences Po Dual Degree Programs. International students should contact Berkeley's International Office for more information on funding availability.
Federal and State financial aid is available while attending the host campus for years 1 and 2. Institutional financial aid, such as the Berkeley Grant and Berkeley undergraduate scholarship is not available while at the host campus.
When you return to UC Berkeley for years 3 and 4, you will be considered for Federal, State, and Institutional financial aid.
Regents' and Chancellor scholarship recipients can receive their scholarship the entire four years.
Students accepted to Hong Kong University will be considered for the HKU Foundation Entrance Scholarship upon admission to HKU for years 1 and 2. A separate application is not required. The scholarship may cover up to full tuition plus living expenses.
A: The estimated cost of attending one of the dual degree programs can be lower than the cost of attending UC Berkeley, particularly for our non-resident students. Below you will find the estimated cost of attending across the three programs for 2026-27.
