Campus Data Authorization

Investing in all aspects of your educational journey at UC Berkeley.

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office works in close partnership with offices and departments on campus to help students access many types of support services. By reviewing and completing the Campus Data Authorization, financial aid applicants allow UC Berkeley partners to better serve them in securing additional resources and support.

How Data Sharing Helps Students

Campus Data Authorization allows the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office to share financial aid application data (excluding Federal Tax Information) with other campus entities so that students can be considered for additional, non-financial aid resources and support.

Completing a financial aid application automatically considers you for financial aid. Once you submit your completed financial aid application (FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application) for a given year, we are able to share your application data with partners or departments on campus that provide financial support. This qualifies you to be considered for any aid that is factored into determining a financial aid package.

Completing the Campus Data Authorization allows you to be considered for non-financial aid resources and support. UC Berkeley has a wealth of support programs for students that are not considered part of financial aid, but which use (non-tax) criteria included in financial aid application data to determine eligibility.

By agreeing to the Campus Data Authorization, you grant consent to share your financial aid application data (FAFSA or CADAA, excluding Federal Tax Information) with other campus offices such as, but not limited to, the Centers for Educational Equity & Excellence (CE3), the Student Technology Equity Program (STEP), Berkeley Housing, and University Health Services (UHS). Shared information may be used for purposes such as, but not limited to, student success referrals and applications to support degree completion.

How to Complete the Authorization

In order to sign the agreement, access the Campus Data Authorization in the Financial Aid tasks section of CalCentral. You provide your consent on an annual basis for the academic year. Once you agree to share your data for the academic year, authorization cannot be revoked.
